Which is the right PC for you

Spending money on the right PC bundle is an investment in the future. Inexpensive computers with low performance quickly reach the performance limits of the PC system and you have to invest in a new model after a few years, as applications and programs become more and more demanding and performance-hungry.

You won't save any money in the long term this way. You are better off buying the right PC for your needs. Of course, this is especially true if the PC is to be used on a daily basis. So it's better to buy a little more RAM and a larger SSD / HDD and then have peace of mind for a few years than buying the minimum configuration and having to increase the RAM or SSD / HDD after a short time.

The most important components of a complete PC system

Processor (CPU): The processor is the brain of a computer system. The more powerful it is, the faster it can execute commands, perform calculations and process projects. From single-core CPUs with one core to dual-core CPUs with two cores and the latest Intel Core models with up to 8 performance cores and up to 16 efficiency cores, there is a wide range of CPUs to suit everyone.

Memory (RAM): A memory in which data can be both read and written and which can be used at lightning speed. and where data can be accessed at lightning speed. The RAM of a PC stores data that the processor can access immediately. When the computer is switched off, the information is also deleted from the RAM. Most desktop systems have between 8 and 32 GB of RAM.

Mass storage: There are two solutions here. Reliable but slow hard disks (HDDs) and fast SSDs. The latter are much faster than HDDs and are the preferred solution for the main drive. A good solution is to choose a fast SSD for the operating system and a slower hard disk for pictures, videos, etc.

Graphics unit: A graphics processing unit (GPU) performs complex calculations to display text, images and videos. There are two types of GPUs. They can be integrated (built into the CPU) or dedicated (as a separate graphics card). Office PCs, which only need to run office applications, do not require a complex graphics card and are usually only equipped with an integrated graphics unit. More powerful computer desktops use a graphics card to provide sufficient performance for complex graphics applications. Workstations require particularly powerful graphics cards for calculations and the display of complex graphics.

Connectivity: Wired Ethernet is the most powerful connectivity option for business desktop computers and workstations and for professional gamers, as there are no delays. However, Ethernet cables are not always available where they are needed. Wireless LAN (W-LAN) connectivity has become the standard. W-LAN provides a high-quality wireless connection in places where many devices are connected.

The operating system: We install the latest operating system from Microsoft with the latest designs, drivers and support for the latest hardware. Most of Ankermann's computers have Windows 11 with all drivers installed.

The accessories: A complete system naturally includes other important components such as a monitor, mouse and keyboard. Our complete systems include Microsoft Windows, a mouse and keyboard set and, in selected cases, a branded monitor.

The different processor performance levels

Desktop CPUs are available in three performance classes: 35 watts, 65 watts and 95+ watts, which different design factors. These figures indicate the maximum continuous heat load that the CPU can handle without throttling itself. The lower range includes All-in-One PCs (AIO) and PCs with a small form factor and low form factor and low power consumption. The middle range includes normal office PCs with the exception of workstations. At the upper end are the powerful gamer PCs and workstations. If power consumption is an important factor, it should be weighed against the required performance.
